October is RVT Month, and here at Lakeshore Road Animal Hospital, we’re excited to celebrate the incredible work of our Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs) — the unsung heroes of animal healthcare.

What Is an RVT?

An RVT is a trained and licensed veterinary professional who works alongside veterinarians to provide medical care, comfort, and support to your pets. Think of them as the veterinary version of a nurse, lab tech, anesthetist, and animal advocate all rolled into one!

What Do RVTs Do?

A better question might be—what don’t they do?
Our RVTs are hands-on in almost every part of your pet’s care, including:

• Assisting in surgeries and monitoring anesthesia
• Taking X-rays and running lab tests
• Giving medications and treatments
• Handling emergencies
• Providing dental cleanings
• Offering client education and emotional support
• Making sure your pet is safe, clean, and comfortable during their visit

They’re also a huge part of why our hospital runs smoothly and why your pet gets such compassionate care.
